Extraction of retained deciduous second molars and subsequent space closure are often appropriate because this option alleviates the need for implants or other restorations. This article describes the conventional orthodontic closure of unilateral and bilateral congenitally missing second premolar spaces after the extraction of retained deciduous second molars.
